Our Story

How We Found Each Other

Divya and Kabir in traditional wedding attire
2019

A Diwali Introduction, Chicago

Divya and Kabir met at a Diwali mixer their families' friends had been not-so-subtly orchestrating for months. Between the diyas and the dandiya, neither of them left the other's side for the rest of the night.

2023

Long Distance, Longer Calls

A job move took Kabir to Bengaluru while Divya stayed in Chicago. Three years, two continents, and countless 2 a.m. video calls later, the distance only made it clearer — this was the person.

2025

The Proposal, City Palace

On a trip to Udaipur to visit Kabir's grandmother, he proposed at sunset on the ramparts of the City Palace, overlooking Lake Pichola. Divya said yes before he finished the sentence.

2027

Five Days of Celebration

Now, surrounded by both families and every friend who cheered them on, Divya and Kabir invite you to Zenara Palace Resort for a week of color, music, and joy.

Questions

FAQs

What is Haldi, and why does everyone get turmeric on them?

Haldi is a pre-wedding ritual where family and close friends apply a turmeric-and-sandalwood paste to the couple's skin. It's believed to bless them with a healthy glow and ward off bad luck before the wedding — and it usually turns into a joyful, messy, music-filled morning. Wear clothes you don't mind staining!

What should I wear to each event?

Each celebration has its own dress code, listed on its card in the Events section: Haldi is yellow/bright casual, Mehendi is green and vibrant ethnic, Sangeet is cocktail/festive glam, the Wedding Ceremony is traditional Indian formal in reds and golds, and the Reception is Indo-Western formal. When in doubt, color and comfort for dancing are always welcome.

Will there be vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and Jain food options?

Yes — every event will offer full vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and Jain menus. Please note any dietary preferences or allergies in the RSVP form and our catering team will take care of the rest.

Is there parking at Zenara Palace Resort?

Yes. Complimentary valet parking is available at the resort's main entrance for all five events. Self-parking is also available in the resort's guest lot for those who prefer it.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely — children are welcome at every event except the Sangeet, which runs late into the night. We'll have a supervised kids' corner at Haldi, Mehendi, the Wedding Ceremony, and the Reception.

Do I need to attend all five events?

Not at all — your invitation will specify which celebrations you're invited to (use the “View As” selector above to see how this works for family, friends, and colleagues). Attend whichever events fit your travel plans; we're just happy to have you for any part of the week.

How do we get from the airport to the resort, and between events?

Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR) is about 30 minutes from Zenara Palace Resort. Complimentary shuttles run between our recommended hotel, The Amrapali Haveli, and every event throughout the week — no need to arrange your own transport once you land.

Are gifts expected?

Your presence at any (or all!) of our celebrations is truly the only gift we're hoping for. If you'd still like to send something, a small note in the RSVP form letting us know you're coming means the world.
