Our Story

From Coffee Shop Strangers to Forever

It started with a spilled cappuccino and a very badly timed joke. In the fall of 2021, Isabella was three chapters deep into a novel at a corner table when Marcus, reaching for the sugar, knocked her drink clean off the table. He bought her a replacement and stayed to apologize — three hours and two refills later, neither of them wanted to leave.

What followed were years of weekend hikes, a shared love of terrible puns, one very stubborn rescue dog named Biscuit, and a slow, easy certainty that they'd found their person. Marcus proposed on the same corner table, now a quiet garden bench he'd had made just for the occasion, on a crisp October evening in 2026.

Now they can't wait to celebrate the next chapter with the people who mean the most to them.

Guests are welcome from 3:30 PM. Seating is unassigned — arrive with time to spare and find a spot among the roses.

Cocktail hour, dinner, toasts, and dancing under the string lights. A seasonal, locally-sourced menu will be served, with vegetarian and vegan options available.

Garden Formal

Soft, seasonal colors are encouraged.

Think flowing fabrics and comfortable shoes — much of the celebration takes place on grass and garden paths. Please, no all-white attire.

Getting There & Staying Over

By Car

Willowmere Botanical Conservatory is roughly 90 minutes north of New York City via the Taconic State Parkway. Complimentary on-site parking is available for all guests.

By Train

Take the Metro-North Hudson Line to Rhinecliff Station. A shuttle will run between the station and the Conservatory at regular intervals — details to follow closer to the date.

By Air

The nearest airport is Albany International (ALB), about a 50-minute drive from the venue. Car rentals are recommended.

Where to Stay

We've reserved a block of rooms at The Hollyfield Inn, a charming stay just ten minutes from the Conservatory. Mention "Isabella & Marcus" when booking for our discounted rate. Rooms are limited, so we recommend booking early.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are children welcome?

We love your little ones, but our celebration will be an adults-only affair (18+), with the exception of immediate family. We hope this gives all our guests a relaxing evening to enjoy.

What should I wear?

Our dress code is "garden formal." Cocktail dresses, suits, and sport coats are all appropriate. The ceremony and much of the reception take place outdoors on grass, so heels with thin heels are not recommended.

Is the venue indoors or outdoors?

Both! The ceremony takes place outdoors under the Wisteria Arbor (weather permitting), and the reception is in the climate-controlled Glasshouse Pavilion, so you'll be comfortable regardless of forecast.

Can I bring a plus-one?

We've kept our guest list intimate, so plus-ones are only included where noted on your invitation. Please check the "Number of Guests" field on the RSVP form for your allotted seats.

What about gifts?

Your presence is truly the only gift we need. For those who wish to celebrate further, we'll share registry details on a keepsake card at the reception.

Will transportation be provided?

A shuttle will run between The Hollyfield Inn and the Conservatory throughout the evening. Details on pickup times will be included in your invitation suite closer to the date.
